Every so often a love story so captures our hearts that it becomes more than a story-it becomes an experience to remember forever. The Notebook is such a book. It is a celebration of how passion can be ageless and timeless, a tale that moves us to laughter and tears and makes us believe in true love all over again...

At thirty-one, Noah Calhoun, back in coastal North Carolina after World War II, is haunted by images of the girl he lost more than a decade earlier. At twenty-nine, socialite Allie Nelson is about to marry a wealthy lawyer, but she cannot stop thinking about the boy who long ago stole her heart. Thus begins the story of a love so enduring and deep it can turn tragedy into triumph, and may even have the power to create a miracle...

The book starts with the main character reading out a handwritten book to an old woman who suffers from Alzheimer's disease. He narrates the story of Noah Calhoun, a young man who has just finished restoring a house after his dad's death. His ex-girlfriend Allie(they were separated for 14 years) surprises him by showing up at his house. The main character narrates the romantic interlude between Noah and Allie and stops the story abruptly leaving the old woman guessing about how the story really ends.

This book isn't all that long, it took me about 3 continuous hours to finish it. The language is simple, the writing is very good and it'll keep you engaged if you are a romance reader. The ending was beautiful, my eyes pricked with tears at the end of it.

Overall it was a wonderful book that emphasizes on the power and patience that comes with true love and the bliss of hope. I loved it, you'll love it. If you haven't already read it, go ahead and read it. I recommend this to people who want to get into the habit of reading books and are just beginning since the language is very simple and the plot is extremely engaging. Make sure you have a handkerchief within reachable distance when you've reached the last few pages of the book, you'll need it. Without a doubt.

Also, the movie is wonderful. I watched the movie a couple of years ago and read the book recently. The movie has done justice to the book.
