My disease is as rare as it is famous. Basically, I’m allergic to the world. I don’t leave my house, have not left my house in seventeen years. The only people I ever see are my mom and my nurse, Carla.
But then one day, a moving truck arrives next door. I look out my window, and I see him. He’s tall, lean and wearing all black—black T-shirt, black jeans, black sneakers, and a black knit cap that covers his hair completely. He catches me looking and stares at me. I stare right back. His name is Olly.
Maybe we can’t predict the future, but we can predict some things. For example, I am certainly going to fall in love with Olly. It’s almost certainly going to be a disaster.

This is the debut novel by author Nicola Yoon, an American born in Jamaica. I chose to read this one because it was YA and I was looking for something light and quick, not too heavy with emotions. This book was exactly that.
The protagonist - Madeline suffers from SCID. I'll paste the definition here
Severe combined immunodeficiency, SCID, also known as alymphocytosis, Glanzmann–Riniker syndrome, severe mixed immunodeficiency syndrome, and thymic alymphoplasia, is an extremely rare genetic disorder characterized by the disturbed development of functional T cells and B cells caused by numerous genetic mutations that result in heterogeneous clinical presentations
So I learnt something new there, I didn't know about this disease before.
Anyway, I liked the premise of the story and the way it is written. You can finish this book in one sitting. I took longer cause I was also watching travel shows on TV and scribbling in my drawing book... all at the same time! Well I turned the TV mute when I read. If you are a teenager, you should read this one, you'll enjoy it.
I didn't absolutely love it. But I really liked it.
