Pages - 312My disease is as rare as it is famous. Basically, I’m allergic to the world. I don’t leave my house, have not left my house in seventeen years. The only people I ever see are my mom and my nurse, Carla.
But then one day, a moving truck arrives next door. I look out my window, and I see him. He’s tall, lean and wearing all black—black T-shirt, black jeans, black sneakers, and a black knit cap that covers his hair completely. He catches me looking and stares at me. I stare right back. His name is Olly.
Maybe we can’t predict the future, but we can predict some things. For example, I am certainly going to fall in love with Olly. It’s almost certainly going to be a disaster.

This is the debut novel by author Nicola Yoon, an American born in Jamaica. I chose to read this one because it was YA and I was looking for something light and quick, not too heavy with emotions. This book was exactly that.
The protagonist - Madeline suffers from SCID. I'll paste the definition here
Severe combined immunodeficiency, SCID, also known as alymphocytosis, Glanzmann–Riniker syndrome, severe mixed immunodeficiency syndrome, and thymic alymphoplasia,[1] is an extremely rare genetic disorder characterized by the disturbed development of functional T cells and B cells caused by numerous genetic mutations that result in heterogeneous clinical presentations
So I learnt something new there, I didn't know about this disease before.
Anyway, I liked the premise of the story and the way it is written. You can finish this book in one sitting. I took longer cause I was also watching travel shows on TV and scribbling in my drawing book... all at the same time! Well I turned the TV mute when I read. If you are a teenager, you should read this one, you'll enjoy it.
I didn't absolutely love it. But I really liked it.
