This is a 28 - day magical journey I'm doing for the first time with you guys. Click here for details.
For this exercise, you'll need a special book or a journal and a pen. Don't use this book for anything else, let it be your gratitude book. What you have to do is write down a simple list of ten blessings in your life that you are grateful for.
"When I started counting my blessings, my whole life turned around." - Willie Nelson (Singer-Songwriter)
This exercise seems simple, but you'll experience the power of gratitude and the blessings it brings into your life as the days go by. You will have to add 10 more blessing to your list everyday for the next 27 days.
You need to specifically mention why you are grateful for the blessing you have. That will increase the degree of gratitude you feel.
This is how you are going to write your list:
- I am truly blessed to have (what?), because (why?).
- I am truly grateful for (what?), because (why?).
- I am extremely thankful for (what?), because (why?).
After writing down your 10 blessings, read them out loud or in your mind, one by one, and say the magic words thank you three times after each blessing. In order to feel more gratitude, you can be grateful to God, the Universe, life, the Holy Spirit or any other concept you are drawn to. When you direct your gratitude toward someone, you will feel even more gratitude and the magic that lies in it is far more powerful.
Here are some areas you can look for blessings in:
Health, Work, Money, Relationships,Passions, Happiness, Love, Life, Nature... any subject of your choosing.
Day 1 Exercise:
1. Begin your day by making a list of 10 things in your life you are grateful for. Write why you are grateful for each of them.
2. After writing them, read them out loud or in your mind and say the magic words thank you, thank you, thank you at the end of each one.
3. Repeat these steps everyday for the next 27 days.
This exercise is going to make us very grateful people. 10 blessings a week? for 28 days? That's 280 blessings. Looks like this exercise is going to reveal a lot of blessings I never thought about before...
This is how we should be at the end of this 28 day journey :)
